Still scrolling? Here’s more about me!

Some highlights of my 17 years in the workplace…

After graduating with a Psychology degree in 2007, and realizing I was utterly and completely broke (after all, I spent the last of my student loans on a trip to Europe, no regrets there), I realized my best spot to use my Psychology degree and pay off student loans was getting into Corporate Human Resources.

And it’s been a trip! Over 15 years in Learning and Development (aka the fun part of HR), running leadership training workshops, interpersonal skill workshops, coaching leaders, doing organizational improvement programs… woof! And while I still do some consulting… it was time to go back to my first love: Human Psychology.

I graduate in 2024 with my Masters in Counselling Psychology and am officially a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).

(The ‘qualifying’ part means since I have less than 1000 client hours I have a clinical supervisor who makes sure I’m not messing anyone up!)

I am finishing out my clinical placement at Family Service Kent in Chatham and have a small private practice here at ‘the good stuff.’

And what’s a session with me like?

Hmmm… lots of laughing of course. Usually some crying (don’t worry, it’s good for you). Usually swearing, if that’s your thing.

Lots of looking forward at what can we do differently to make your life feel how you’re dreaming it could feel… and lots of looking back to figure out why everything you do now makes perfect sense considering what you’ve been through.

And yeah we’ll use the evidence based tools and interventions that I’m trained in with all the fancy acronyms like ACT, MBCT, DBT, Narrative therapy, SFBT, etc etc… but really, at the core, two humans working together to sort out your brain, finally.

And some other trivia for you:

  • Lived in England for 5 years (still weirdly homesick for London England)

  • Live with my British partner, two kids and one eyed poodle

  • Every year on my birthday I like to get another tattoo - usually with a nerdy book theme

  • I can always be found making tea

  • Bucket list travel destination: Japan, Indonesia and Yukon
