Hello/Aanii/Boozhoo!

I'm Kenna, she/her, a mixed First Nations woman with Anishinaabe and Ojibwe roots. I'm a daughter, partner, friend, granddaughter, auntie, helper, and healer.

I do what I do because there was a pivotal moment in my life when I was the young person receiving counselling.

Unbeknownst to me at the time, that experience sparked a fire within me. As I matured and embarked on my journey of self-discovery, I realized that my natural inclination to be the "mom friend," always looking out for others, advocating for them, and helping them navigate life's challenges, wasn't merely coincidental. It was a calling—an undeniable passion to serve as a healer and a helper. The flame ignited within me back in 2011, when a therapist profoundly impacted a young girl's life, continues to fuel my dedication to supporting others on their paths to healing and growth.

As an Indigenous person, I carry the wisdom and resilience of my ancestors, infusing my work with the values of community, connection, and cultural reverence.

I absolutely love my job because, well, I'm a certified yapper—I could talk for hours! Having a career where I get to chat endlessly is just perfect for me.

But beyond that, this work fulfills me in ways I never imagined. It's a healing journey for my inner child and keeps my passion fire burning bright.

What's more, I bring my whole self to every session. What you see is what you get with me because I believe in authenticity. It's only fair that if I expect you to be your genuine self, I should be too.

Connecting with others on a personal level brings me immense joy, and this job allows me to do just that. I get to meet incredible people, hear their unique stories, and in the process, I grow both personally and professionally.

Some other highlights for you:

  • Cat mom to Annie (old lady tuxedo cat) and Dog mom to Bear, a German Shepherd puppy and future emotional support dog

  • I enjoy golfing, camping, hiking with the dog, cooking, crafting, reading, and gardening.

  • I enjoy watching the same shows on repeat - some favourites are: That 70s Show, The Fosters, Ted Lasso

  • I was a pizza maker in high school and again for a few years in post-secondary school - meaning I consider myself a pizza connoisseur.

And the education & training highlights…
